Child swinging at a park

What’s your favorite thing to do with your kids on the weekend? The staff at your community of Fort Bend apartments has put together a list of super fun kid-friendly activities in the Houston area, so you can stop going back to the same playground over and over again.

Most of these activities are perfect for hot days in Houston, but if the weather somehow stays cool, make sure you check out the outdoor theatre. With that, let’s take a look at the list of the best kid-friendly activities in Houston! When you’re done reading this post, please be sure to share it with your friends and neighbors at your luxury apartments in Richmond.

Beat the heat in SplashTown

There are some absolutely insane rides at SplashTown, so check this place out if you want to feed your kid’s inner adrenaline junky. Take the Tornado, for example. Kids start on platform 75 feet above the ground, and slide down a 132-foot long slide that ends in a huge funnel. If you have a super young kid, you can take them to the Wet ‘n’ Wild Jr playspace for little kids. As for your own personal enjoyment, we recommend testing your surfing skills on the FlowRider wave.

Kick back and relax at the Miller Outdoor Theatre

When the weather is nice, there are few more relaxing spots in Houston than the Miller Outdoor theatre. This outdoor amphitheatre in Hermann Park has live music performances, theatre performances, film showings and more. They have plenty of kid-friendly shows, so click the link above to check the schedule for the Miller Outdoor Theatre. Oh, and remember to BYOB!

Amaze the kids with a visit to The Chocolate Bar

Here’s how you can explain The Chocolate Bar to your kids: It’s got all their favorite toys, but they’re made of chocolate. This magical place has chocolate cars, tools, cell phones, and everything else you can imagine. The Chocolate Bar also has a giant pizza made entirely of chocolate, but you can hardly tell that’s it’s not made of cheese, dough and pepperoni. The lines get a little long at this Montrose shop, so try to go here on a weekday if you get the chance.

Go to every kid’s favorite place; the Children’s Museum of Houston

According to Parents magazine, this is the best children’s museum in America. With over 90,000 sq. ft. of interactive exhibits for kids of all cultural backgrounds, we can see why.

The building itself was designed by famous architect Robert Venturi, and the design adds to the whimsical nature of the museum. The coolest exhibit at the museum has to be Kidtropolis, USA. It’s a kid-sized city where children hold jobs, start businesses and earn fake money. The museum even gives kids ATM cards that they can use in Kidtropolis!

Those are all the kid-friendly activities we’ve got for you this week, residents! We’d like to thank you for taking some time out of your busy schedule to read the latest edition of the Echelon On 99 blog, and we hope this list of suggestions helps you have some fun with your little ones.
